Default You don't care. I painted my car. DIAF 56K!

It's not a Honda. Is there anyone here that can name this color?

I'll give you a hint. It's someone's factory color, but certainly not mine.

If anyone wonders where I've been for the past couple of months, I have 2 jobs now. Got my old job back + a substantial raise, still doing consulting work on the side (which has been really good to me lately) and managed to get this car painted within the past month doing the body disassembly and re-assembly myself. Needless to say I've been a little busy. I finally updated my GSX page and broke up the modifications by year because there are just too many damn photos. Check it out.

I finished the car the day of an annual DSM car club meet and show (last weekend) where I brought home 3 trophies for this thing. I'll post pictures of those later. I placed...

3rd runner up - Go fast with class.
King of Bling - 1st place
Best overall - there is no second place.

The King of Bling trophy is freakin' awesome. I can't believe it really. There are tons of cars in the DSMCA crew that I think blow mine away. They just didn't show up this year! :P But some other great cars showed up, too... including a '96 Euro-spec Galant VR-4 (RHD, V6 TT, AWD, 5-spd, fodo). Pictures of the DSMCA GT-8 event can be found here. Eight EVO MR's showed up if you're hesitant to click the link. SlowBoy Racing brought out their tube chassis drag car, even a factory-turbo mirage hatch showed up (rare).

I also cleaned up in the raffle. I won a DSMlink ECU modification ($640 value, www.dsmlink.com), a EVO clutch line (which I already have so I gave it to someone in need), and 2 T-shirts... So now I'm looking for another 2g turbo ECU so I can get mine socketed without taking the car out of commission for a month of the summer. DSMlink is the most unobtrusive and stealth alternative to a stand-alone ECU. It's truly amazing.

I hope you've all been well. Feel free to comment.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get a good side shot on it at the show because my car was parked between an Evo MR and my buddy's 4g63 swapped '91 Mirage hatch... and I haven't had the time to take pics of it in the week I've had it back because of the 2 job thing... But as far as the numbers are concerned... 324awhp on pump gas, and a best ET of 12.67 @ 107mph. AWD cars "suffer" from a 25% drivetrain loss... if you do the math, that's 433hp at the crank un pump gas. Not bad for a tiny little 48-trim turbo.

You can watch my dyno video HERE.

Here are some engine shots from right before I painted it. It looks even better now, but I can't take pictures to prove it right now because it's raining... and also... since it's overcast... the car looks 100% black right now. Not as impressive. I detailed the engine again for the car show.

Sweet man. I love to see someone doing a DSM right. There are too many of them out there with wimpy numbers and stuff.

Keep kickin ass man.

The color reminds me of Black Cherry Pearl, but your color is a little darker than that.

Well... that sort of a grey area for now depending on how high I rev it. When I set my MBC at 14 PSI for the street, the car quickly creeps to 21 PSI by about 5000 RPMs. So I fixed that problem by just setting it to 21 PSI. It stopped creeping.

I've ported the wastegate from 22mm to 34mm and put the big flapper in it. I was thinking about getting an atmospheric dump for the wastegate, but I'm looking at other options. I don't like the idea of venting exhaust in the engine bay with all my polished crap. The other alternative is to replace the turbo setup. That would make me happier, but I'm trying to save some $ for a house, and I think I have plenty of power for a street legal car.

DSMlink is getting installed in the next couple of months, so maybe there's something I can do tuning-wise that will make me more comfortable with it running 21 PSI on pump gas. No problems so far. EGT's are around 810°C. Safe enough, but I still think it might be pissing off my knock sensor. I'll know for sure when DSMlink gets here. The timeslip and dyno sheet are both results from an un-tuned factory ECU.
