fiberglass or urethane?
ive heard bad and good things about fiberglass kits. have any of yall had any problems with yours cracking or anything? would it be better to just start off with urethane?
I have a fiberglass body kit on my old car and I will never have one again. Spider-web cracks and paint chips come easily. And they are a pain to fit on your car. I will never get a body kit ever again even if it's ureothane. My suggestion is not to get a body kit, but if you do I'd get a urethane one.
My friend's fiberglass front bumper is spidering, and cracking where the wind pushes against the front supports. Plus, its not that fun to work with. You lean on it, or tap a pole, its cracked, and your out of 300 dollars. Urethane is the way to go.
go with Urethane. FiberGlass rarely fit and after you finally do get it to fit the first little bump into it is likely to make it shatter. With Urethane it is nearly Unbreakable. Even in full fledged accidents most of the time paint will chip off but kit will still be fine
Urethane is the way to go. Takes a licking, and still holds. Definitely worth the extra $.
Fiberglass is cheaper, but it's cheap- and brittle... one thing good is that it's easy to repair fiberglass.
But if it were me, urethane all the way.

ive always had fiberglass kits, and so long as you dont drive like its stock you wont have problems... also no ones giving any of the cons of urethane.. such as paint chips off easier than fiberglass when it flexes, alot of paint shops dont prep right, and you're paint ends up flaking off.. or how urethane isn't as easy to minipulate as fiberglass, incase you get a bad mold. also with fiberglass you get the option of doing conversions...if not now then later on since you can always cut and bondo up... it all comes down to your budget and whats available...
Not just that, but urethane tends to sag over time. It's also heavier than it's fiberglass counterpart. A friend of mine that has a Xenon body kit on his 5th gen civic coupe, the rear and the front bumpers started to sag after about a year and a half being on the car.
Depending on the style of bodykit you choose, it's more beneficial if you choose urethane for one kind of body kit, and better if you choose fiberglass on others.
Which kit were you planning on getting?
