Questions about S2000?

I am really intrested in picking up an S2000 but had a few questions... What is a good price? How fast compared to those turbo punks? any complaints? what years is preferred for the best power? any other opinions are welcome thanks. If u had a choice what other car in the same price range would u buy....

1) price start in the low to mid teens for an early model with high mileage
2) not fast compared to Evos or STIs
3) complaints: none for me, but it's not my daily driver. i can imagine the small cabin and NVH can get annoying though
4) '04-'07 models have more power, dyno proven
5) i'd buy another one anyday

if your oveer 5'10 dont even bother getting this car. You wont fit. Im 6'1 and my knees hit the steering wheel like crazy. Steering wheel is small and it lacks torque.

Lose some weight, I know plenty of people that are 6'1 and fit just fine. ;)

^I'm 6'4'' and I am having the same problem. Has anyone ever changed the steering wheel to a flat bottomed one?

at 185lbs and 6'1 ---yeah, nice assumption that "im fat" ...dumb ass.

even my brother being 5'10 found it quite difficult in the drivers seat. Its a tight area over there.

imagine putting the same sized steering wheel into an S2000 from an accord.

or maybe its just us being over 6'0 tall with people assuming we're fat :(

Sorry, but this car isnt meant for tall skinny people.

RicoD 06-04-2007 07:17 AM

I'm 5' 11" and I fit fine.... :o and I'm not exactly what you call skinny :o nor tall :oh:

The driver side is a tight fit though

diddy2003 06-04-2007 07:21 AM

^ And that is what pisses me off about it!!! My legs fit fine (distance to pedals), its just the steering wheel is right on and between my legs which is making for a strange driving position. I want to get this car so bad but I don't want to be kicking myself the first time I take it out and realize how uncomfortable I am in it. I read about lowering the seat but I was just hoping someone had simply changed out the steering wheel. I wish I could just tilt the wheel up an inch but I guess Honda figured they did not have to include that option. Oh and btw, being 6'4'' 220 hardly makes me "fat."

I sit in the car fine but my eye level is right where the sun visor is.
So i have to hunch down a bit, not a problem, ill look like im driving a west coast low rider.
I wish the seat could be moved a bit further back IMO.
I do like the speakers behind the seat head rest.
I didnt like the lack of torque in the s2k too.

The G35 is so much better...You should look into that car.

Totally different cars however....

Although when I test drove it, the room is 10x better vs the S2K, everything else was eh... It's a cruising car more than anything. It is still very nice though.

ive had both, and they are completely different breeds with two different missions.

It's just a tight car regardless of your size. The cabin really hugs to your body and it's not just about height.

I fit fine. Friends of mine 6'2 200 fit fine in the drivers. Teammate of mine that's 6'4 220 fits passenger-- can't say it is comfortable top up but it's liveable.

To each his own.

jlammy 06-04-2007 09:30 PM

I am a shorter guy so it didn't matter with me. However, it's a tight fit overall so you should consider that. As a matter of fact....go test drive one and you'll know for yourself.

Two other cars come to mind...and they are both different animals as Reechy said.....

G35
Acura TL :p

The S2000 is not fast or have torque compared to a G35, Z350, STI, Evo....BUT....it's freaking fun to drive.

diddy2003 06-05-2007 08:18 AM

I do like the cars all you have mentioned, but I am coming off of riding motorcycles for year and want the closest thing on four wheels to riding a bike. I was in a couple accidents and don't want to take any more chances with all the stupid drivers on the road. (My last crash, which totaled my gixxer, was because somebody ran a stop sign and took me out.) For that reason I love the high revving nature of the S2k. It just seems like it is like driving a go-cart on the street. The did go to one of the local dealers around me and they are calling my when they get a new one in so I can go test drive it. I am looking to get a 04/05 in the fall to early winter so I don't know how the 07 will compare. Thanks for the help.

hmm,...maybe ill fit better as a passenger.
I only sat in the drivers seat. Maybe its just me, I dont like sitting straight up.

Fork out the extra cash and get an 06+. You won't regret it :) The AP1 haters will choke on our 2.2 and fully reprogrammable ECU :fawk:
