S2000 Short Shifter!!!
I know the S2000 has a short throw to the gears, but has anybody seen a short shifter on the market for the S2000's???

Comptech is working on one. Axial Flow has one out available through www.ricks2k.com ... you can read reviews of it on s2ki.com.

You can take almost an inch off of the stock height by using a countersunk shift knob. I've got a couple of those in the garage and they work very well. Using a countersunk knob still leaves most of the feel that you need to keep in order to "read" good shifting practices on the street or on the track.
There may be a true "short shifter" out there for the S2000, but I have not seen it. A short shifter usually lengthens the the shift lever from the fulcrum down to the shift ball. That permits more travel below the fulcrum for a any lever movement above the fulcrum.
This is usually accomplished by raising the fulcrum or dropping the shift mechanism to make room for the lower part of the lever. With the S2000, you can't lower the shift mechanism because it's already sitting on top of the transmission without any linkage. You can't sensibly (at least for a street car) raise the fulcrum point because you would need to raise the shifter above the top of the transmission tunnel.
I suggest that you try a countersunk knob first. You may find that you're happy with it.
