oil consumption?

My 2000 AP1 is the third Honda that I've owned, and the first that seems to burn oil quickly. Is this just something that's common for the F20C? If it's not common, then does anyone have suggestions as to how to fix it? I've been running Amsoil 100% synthetic since the car was new (after burning in the engine for about 1,500 miles). I haven't had any trouble with Amsoil in any other vehicle, so I doubt that's it.

Most of my automotive knowledge pertains to older cars. Modern engines with all of their computers and sensors are nowhere near as clear to me. I recently had an issue with my 2006 3.8L Pontiac Grand Prix. After reading about the oil life monitors and the fact that the 3,000 mile oil change interval no longer applies with synthetic oils, I decided to let the computers tell me when I needed an oil change.

That's very interesting. With Amsoil, I send samples of the oil to an analysis lab to determine when it needs changing, and what state of wear the engine is in.

Do you know how the modern oil monitors compare to a full analysis?
