I get between 25 and 30 MPG with the TypeS. The base with the auto should do about the same. Only the TypeS needs premium 91 octane, the base models are meant to use regular 87 octane. Don't waste your money putting in premium it won't do any good. Premium is made to burn slower in higher compression engines, to prevent predetonation (spark knock).

Oldman, Thanks for your info
If you have any other tips about an Auto RSX, let me know. We figured that the RSX has been out long enough that we should be getting a really good deal.

I've heard of rsx's that get really good mileage after there is a few more miles on their car. One guy said that he mostly is freeway driving but averages around 38mpg. I usually get around 29 but I only have 10k miles on mine.

Well, I bought it back in December 01, so I got it pretty early. At the time, I paid $19.5K for a base 5-speed with Leather (only options I got were splash guards and All Season mats), which I think was a good deal considering how new the RSX was when I got it.

18.5 for a new RSX-S is a really good price. Even now, the market price for the base RSX goes for around 19K and the RSX-S can be as high as 22K.
