Default k20 lo-down

Ok, forgive my ignorance or stupidity in this matter if it may have already been answered, but im am extremely confused about the k20 series and their role in the acura rsx.

Three engines that i have heard about are the

k20a
k20c
k20c3

Id like to know the hp at the crank for each engine, and then which car each engine is in, base rsx, rsx type s, rsx type r

Also if possible id like to know the horsepower difference (AT THE WHEELS) between the 04 rsx type s, the 06 rsx type s, and the 06 base rsx.

From what i heard, the k20c3 pushes 220 at the crank... but some have told me that the c3 is in the type s while others have said that the k20a i is in the type s. Please clear this up for me

Here are the RSX engines:
K20A - found only on the 02+ Type R, 220 crank hp.
K20A2 - 2002-2004 Type S. 200 crank hp. (About 195 SAE hp)
K20A3 - 2002+ Base RSX engine. 160 crank hp. (15_ SAE hp)
K20Z1 - 2005+ Type S. 210 crank horsepower (201 SAE hp)
K20Z3 - 2006 Civic Si. Crank hp is somewhere between 200 and 210. (197 SAE I think).

All of the above are figures under the old horsepower rating system (before the new SAE formula was introduced for 2006).

Whoever told you about the last part of your post is incorrect, they mixed up a bunch of engines together and there is no such thing as a K20C.
04 RSX-S wheel hp - Maybe 170-175, some people have gotten 180, others have gotten high 60's. It depends.
06 Type S wheel hp - I haven't seen any dynos but its a few hp higher.
Base - I think its around 130.

The wheel hp estimates aren't that accurate.

i've most definitely heard talk about a k20c3 engine though, if you do a google on "honda k20c3" you'll find some search queries.

On The Inside
The B18C is the undisputed king of the four cylinders. There are more parts, more options and more ways to make power with Honda's B-series engines than any other four cylinder on the market. As packed as it is with high-tech goodies, it's easy to forget that the B-series is more than 10 years old and, with the new RSX, it's now out of production. In its place is the new K20C, a wonder in its own right and a worthy successor to the mighty B-series.

No problem.

And no, its not worth it for the extra 10hp. If anything a Type R engine would give you better gains and a better powerband (along with a better tranny) for not much more than the 06's cost. I believe that modifying the 02-04 Type S engine will get you more than enough gains, a simple intake would yield about 10 HP, not to mention adding headers, Hondata, etc.

You can also look here for verification on whih engine is which:
