Default RSX Weak starter

I dunno if this is a common problem but my sisters RSX seems to have a weak starter. Like sometimes you have to turn the key for a long time for the car to start. Its a 2004 RSX Base model. Its about 6 months old now, so I wouldn't think the battery would be bad.

Hi
This is my third Honda, and I find that if your gas tank is low, then it takes longer to start

Not sure if she lets it get low or not, but have her always fill at half a tank, and see if the problem continues

I would charge the battery on a charger just in case. Sometimes they will get low and the alternator won't bring them back up to where they need to be.

just a though.

Weather or not it's a problem depends on what you mean by a "long time." If it's just a little longer than other cars you've experienced, then I'd say that's normal because my base RSX does take longer to start than other cars I've owned. I had an '81 Impala where I'd pump the gas pedal once, and then the instant I turned the key that 305 V8 would come to life. Wouldn't even hear a crank, just boom, engine's running.

Anyway, if it seems excessively long then get it checked out at the dealership.

I own an Acura CL-S and a Honda pilot, the starters suck, feels like it barely catches. sometimes the pilot won't react to the key turning, then a minute later, it starts up. Prolly just a Honda thing.
