Default '04 RSX Milano Red: clearcoat?

Does anyone know whether or not the '04 RSX painted Milano Red has clearcoat over the paint?

Generally speaking, every car made by every company in the past 20 years has had clear coat.

That's what I was thinking until I saw red pigment on the towel after putting some wax on a brand new car (that had been sitting on the dealer lot for five months). I wouldn't think you'd see that if it had been clearcoated, which led to my question. If it's clearcoated, that means I'll use different polishes and waxes, formulated for cleacoat.

Maybe you waxed off the clearcoat? Are you sure the wax isn't too abbrasive for fresh paint...? :dunno:

'04 RSX-S in Milano Red. I used Meguiar's paint cleaner, Megiuar's Polish, and Meguiar's Carnauba wax and I saw the pigment with the Carnauba wax. One application of these thing isn't going to be enough to remove clearcoat (given how well Acura paints cars), so I'm guessing that it does not have clearcoat.

It does have clearcoat... I'm not sure why you would get pigment after waxing, though, unless maybe you brushed the under-carriage (which they don't clearcoat).

Is it possible part of it had been repainted or maybe a chip had been touched-up?

I got a Milano Red Type-s. Yes, this car does not have a clearcoat as it's a flat paint. I even asked Acura to confirm this and apparently only the metallics have the clear coat on the RSX. Red beingone of the few that is not metallic does not have a clearcoat. The red coming onto the clothe is very normal and I've had it happen on occasion.
