JDM H22's and pump gas...

hey, I've just been wondering, is it okay to use 93 octane pump gas with the JDM H22? I know it's higher compression, and I was told that Japan has higher octane gas available than we do. Also, what about the Type S engine? That's like 11.0:1 compression isn't it? I would think that would need higher than 93 octane. If you can help, thanks.

no you dont need higher octane. In japan they use a different system to grade gas.

you should be fine with 93. if you have like 12 something, it would be so-so

okay, how about if you live in sunny california and run a touch over 11.0:1 on 91 octane? any recommendations as to what kind of octane booster to use?

not sure what brand but i will say when it says it raises it "9 points" it's .9.... not 91+9...just 91.9

You wont have any problems with pump gas. The engine has just enough valve overlap to allow the motor to have high compression. Honda bullet bikes are somewhere around 14:1 compression and then run on pump gas.
