Default Price check please.

I was thinking of selling my civic hb to buy a prelude. One of my co-workers has a 2001 prelude with 20k miles. Its a 5-speed with leather interior. What is a good price for such a car? Thanks in advance for your help.

I didnt think any of the ludes came with leather, must be an add-on cause ive never seen a fifth gen lude with leather..... either way it sounds like the car is new and fresh, and for such a car ive seen them anywhere from 12K dollars to a lot higher.... you can find older years of the same car for quite a bit less, im in california so it may be different out there though....

A 2001 Prelude with 20,000 miles. Blue Book rates that at $19,500. I'd try to get it under $19,000, but you may have a tough time (limited production, don't make them any more). I've seen 2000 Preludes go for $18,000, so this is a car you definitely buy because you want it, not because its a good deal. Production for U.S. Preludes in 2001 was under 14,000 total, including Type SH.

Prelude99 -- You could get leather installed at the dealer when new, and I beleive my dealer wanted 1800 dollars. They actually remove the factory seat fabric and re-cover the seats. I didn't want it, though. Too hot in summer, cold in winter.

The leather option was only avalible for Canadian models as OEM, anything else would have been aftermarket. A fair price would be around 18,5 to 19,000 for a near prefect car. Dont get talked into paying anymore than that, even with the "aftermarket" leather! Accessories are NEVER worth the same price the person put into it. Good luck!

that's true in most cases, but not with items like leather upholstry.

the only time your situation would be correct is on collector cars or in reference to "performance" or body modifications.

leather upholstry and alarm systems always increase the value.

i know this because i work for Honda.

Leather upholstry and Alarm systems increase the value of the car when they are OEM. i.e. a Accord EX with leather is worth more than an Accord EX w/o leather. If you were to take the EX w/o leather and have it upholstred, it would still be worth less than an OEM Accord EX wth original OEM leather.

And I don't think an el cheapo pepboys alarm would increase the price of a car, no matter what make! I would just keep that in mind. Only one mans opinion.

leather was not available in the US as OEM, therefore they increase the value, especially if the leather is taken care of. trust me, i know what i'm talking about here.
