235/35/17 tire on 17x7.5 rims
 

any comments on fitment?

the rim has a +45mm offset, car is lower 1.5"

215/40/17 fits no problems no rubbing

There's a few people that have run 235/40/17's. I'm not sure about the 35's though.

a 235/40/17 would be better, but it is a little bit bigger.

I would go 215 ... it's nice and straight looking.

its not about looks, its about grip.

what gen have they put those tires on? and what kind of other things did they have done to their car?

Those tires look chunky... what tires are those?
For your car, reccomended is 215/40/17

the tires are Kumho Escta Supra 712's

and yes i know the recommended is 215/40/17, but that wasnt my question now was it?
