OK heres the deal..im gonna answer all ur Q's... Si (maybee the S did too) had the tweeter option...they came with it only if u opted for the premium sound system which came in different varieties. My 92 Si had the tweets and a Honda CD deck and tape deck. The stock tweets are 1". The way they are mounted is this. There should be a bracket in there. Put the tweeter inbetween the bracket and the back of the cover and secure it with a screw. There should be a hole in the bracket for this. This is the easiest speaker install in the lude.

If i left any part of the explanation unclear...i can make it clear for you with further explanation. I can provide pics if u really really want me to.

Are there diffrent covers that are used also?

Mine doesn't have the tweeters and I've pulled the covers off and they are mostly solid plastic with a cloth overlay. There's a small vent on the one side.. but not enough that I would think the tweeters were meant for.

I'm looking at getting some components and want to put them in that stock location, but don't see any easy way to mount/hear them.

similar desire, I want to buy a set of A/D/S/ components, but their 1"ers come in plastic housings with metal mesh domes, even if I could remove it (checking with A/D/S/) and not void any warranty, I was wondering if it would fit, has anyone done this with their prelude? thanks.

I have no info about how it was done, but I have seen people that have just cut holes in those and/or just surface mounted them to the outside of those cloth covers.

That would be the simple way and it'll work for your situation... but like me, you're probably going for the stock look. :rick:

i owned a set of orion hcca's. They are the same speaker as the ads only in 2 ohms instead of 4. Don't take that mesh off, you'll break it. you should be able to mount the tweeter in the si's spot, just dont use the tweeter cup ads provides you with. You'll prolly have to expoxy it into place or screw it in somehow, but it is very easy. great speakers.

yeah, I figured. As for being great speakers, I've always wanted a set of A/D/S/'s (sounds childish, I know), but when I put a set of 4 1/2 Cerwins in the doors of my mule 87 DX lude, I had to use my friend's A/D/S/ covers, (felt like i was living a lie), and since then, wondered what it'd be like to ACTUALLY HAVE a set of the legendary speakers. I figure for now, the 6 1/2s in the back (thinking either 346is or 236is) and the tweeters in the dash, any ideas what I should use for the doors? I can't seem to find standalone 6.5s from A/D/S without the tweeters, and since I'll already have tweeters with the components, I don't need another set. As for the power, I figure the amp that comes with the comps. should do fine, then I can just run the doors off of the head unit, will that work? I forgot. Maybe down the road I'll purchase the VTEC rear panel and throw a nice 6x9 in the back, but I think the A/D/S/'s will cover me for sound and quality.

if you are gonna get an ads comp set, put the woofer from the ads comp set in the door, not the rear deck. you will fawk up the sound if you put them back there and the tweets up front. Secondly, dont just hook them up to the wires, utilize the crossovers that are provided.

as for the rear deck, DO NOT USE 6x9's!!!!! sorry but they are just horrible. a nice 6" will seriously own it. If you are added subwoofers to the trunk, then just get a 6.5" coaxial speaker set for the rear deck, but you prolly wont need rear speaks (except for rear passengers) if you give the ads enough juice. If you don't want to add subwoofers, then you might wanna look at throwing an 8 or 7 in the rear deck for some thud.

might want to look into image dynamics chameleon comp set. quality is better and the midbass is more present. plus you can mount the tweet on the woofer and forgoe the whole dash thing. I plan on using this comp set with 150 watts per speaker and an idmax 12" in the rear deck..hopefully need any advice lemme kno

Right, thanks for the tips, but I'm gonna steer clear of anything bigger than a 6 1/2". Yeah, as for the 6x9, you are the second person to tell me not to bother ... point taken. I planned on utilizing the crossovers, I wasn't sure whether or not the amp provided with the comp set would also power a second set of 6 1/2"s that I WAS going to put in the doors. Since you say to keep the A/D/S/'s up front, 6.5s in the doors and tweeters in the dash, should i just leave the rears untampered with for now (kinda strapped for cash = need money for other more important car parts like cat-back and tires)? I still have time before I buy these comps, in fact I only checked into A/D/S/ recently because I was thinking about my old 2nd gen with the A/D/S/ speaker covers, and how now I can actually fit 6.5s in the damn car (don't ask, but if you want the short story: the 2nd gen took 4 or 4.5s in the door, and after ripping the $hit oem speakers outta the decklid, I had to drill new holes in the speaker cross frame mounts just so I could fit a set of STANDARD RF 6.5s, ugh!). Anyway, don't have the money now, but a new job may be on the horizon, yay.
