making stuff work for cheap

i have a question

i used to drive a 97 vtec accord now i have a 94 vtec lude. i wanted to get underdrive pulleys but instead of spending the 150 bucks id rather just use the aem pulleys from my accord.

i fitted the pulleys and they fit the alternator and power steering pump... does anyone who has underdrive pulleys for the prelude (4th gen) want to share the diameters of both pulleys with me? so that i can compare? i know i need different belts but, i just want to make sure the the pulleys made for the prelude are similarly sized with the accord pulleys. (yes im aware that the stock sizes are different)\

thanks

yea ill measure them for you tommrow i got em on my prelude h23

h23prelude 10-26-2007 04:43 PM

the AEM Tru-power pulley sizes are as follows for a h23/h22 engine

pwr steering- 5.25" dia, a 4v grove belt will fit Bando belt #4pk1065

alternator- 4.125" dia, a 5v grove will fir, with A/C Bando belt#5pk1100

if you wish to discard of your A/C system and eliminate the pulley drag on the engine you can use the NAPA belt #050385 V-ribbed belt, it fits perfect with the AEM tru power pulley and the crank.

Hope this helps you

thanks man,

that helped a bunch. but are you sure the h23 and h22 use the same pulleys? i thought that the vtec model pulleys(aftermarket) and si pulleys(aftermarket) were not the same size.

also i looked at the grooves and ribs on the pulleys. the power steering pulley itself has 4 grooves cut into it and the alt pulley has 6. which means that the ps belt will have 3 grooves (4 ribs) and the alot belt will have 5 grooves (6 ribs) ribs being the part that is raised and grooves being...well, grooves inward.

is that what you meant? i get confused sometimes

thanks

get 1 of each and take the one that doesn't work back to the store to get your money back

well when i wrote that i had finished the job. it was the 1080 belt. the store was really good. they let me exchange 5 belts without a problem, no questions not even a bad look.
