Default Idle problem on 92 lude (2.0L)

Hey everyone im new to the site and i got my first question. When i stop at a light my cars idle can drop as low as bout 550 rpm, NOT 5,500, actually 550, so im wondering what the hell is wrong wit it, i brought it to a shop and he said he fixed it (for free so it doesnt matter) but the idle used to jump up and down betweet 900-2,000 but now it only drops and stays instead of jumping around, any input would be great, thanks!

im not sure i understand the problem. do you think your idle is too low? it should be a steady idle. the computor controls the idle speed. is your idle really rough or something? 550rpm isnt bad for an idle--as long as its not dying. and one more thing. the older a tachometer gets, the less accurate it becomes (at least in my hondas), so your idle might actually be higher than 550. my civic says 500 but its really idles at 650-700
