Default Type Of Intake?????

i just bought a 1998 prelude base model with 50,000 miles. it has no modifications so i was going to do it myself. i am going to install intake first, but dont know if i should get short ram intake or cold air intake. i live in washington so it does rain alot. what are the pros and cons of each one???

I was at the car wash this weekend and saw some young ricers with a cone filter in place of the stock air box. Now I mean there was no hose just directly off the Throttle body was a cone filter. I when I saw it...and when the kid crunk up the car it was freakin loud and sounded like a blow off valve...kinda...when he took off out the parking lot . Since then I have seen pics on the internet like this as well. Wondering if anyone else has seen this.

I'm curious to see what this looks like, post a pic please, and does it even help the engine perform? I couldn't imagine the engine enjoying nice hot air being sucked in directly like that.
