hey guys.. i'm new here..... im having a noise problems with my engine... hoping someone can help!... i got my 5th gen prelude back in september '04. when i got it the engine souded like new, but up untill a few weeks ago, the engine began sounding like a truck! (atleast thats what it sounds like to me!)... my friend told me that those are the lifters/rocker-arms and that cars eventually start sounding like that... but my worry is that it didn't have that noise before AT ALL, and it all happed suddenly. is there any kind of lube i can put in it to lessen the noise? or will i just have to deal with it? i do use mobile1 synthetic oil on it. and the engine has 105k miles on it. but it all seems unnatural to me...the noise beggan too sudden too loud.... thanks in advance for any help.

 

it could be the timing belt tensioner. i had it gone bad after 30k miles. it's like 100 bucks.

 

ya usually u get the tensioner replaced when ya get ur timin belt done....i dunno if ya did or not...

 

thanks for your input guys... i'm going to get the belt looked at.... i hope that's the problem and not anything inside the engine! i'll let yall know how it went...

 

Im getting like a rubbing noise that seems to be coming from my timing belt......its not like a constant noise...its like noise.... 1/2 sec no noise.....noise..... 1/2 sec no noise...etc. Im pretty sure its comin from my timing belt....I had it changed about 1000k ago...noise started about a week or two ago....i was giving it some time thinkin it might go away but it didnt.....sometimes i get the noise sometimes i dont.....when i tap the gas the noise goes away....maybe cuz its cold out now???
