92 Si's Idle Jumping INSANELY
my 92 si w/ 112K miles has this weird problem:
the car starts revving really high (2200 RPMs) then drops to 1200 and begins to jump up and down til it reaches operating temperature. As the motor gets warmer and warmer the jumping becomes a revving up and down. So obviously its something to do with a sensor...any ideas?? mods are intake and exhaust Thanks! -Lawrence |
easy.... it's the idle control vavle.... my bf's 4th gen (as pictured) had that done last month... the honda dealer said he had the last of 2 available in the US..
it's a lil over 100 for everything at the honda dealer(part and labor).. not hard to do yourself... |
yup Air Idle Control Valve....if they dont have any more brand new ones ur gonna have to find one at a salvage yard....74 bucks brand new....i paid 30 bucks labor at Honda.
(edit- this is Wide Mouth Lude, Irene was l;ast logged into this site on my computer and i didnt realize i was still under her name...damn cheated out of a post :( ) |
thanks man! i'll pick one up tomorrow

if these suggestions dont work, just crack open the coolant bleed valve on the thermostat housing. sometimes air builds up there and if the coolant temp sensor is not submersed in coolant it will read eratic temp changes and try to adjust idle speed acordingly. and it doesnt cost anything to check it
