O.K., here's the deal hon....... the SportShift transmission is probably one of Honda's worst products. That doesn't mean it's a piece of junk, but it certainly doesn't have the usual Honda bullet-proof reliability. Honda actually recalled the SportShift transmissions for many 2000-2001 Preludes. While yours doesn't apply to the recall, it isn't the best thing they ever made. I highly suggest (if you haven't already) having a complete fluid and filter change done soon, and then every 30,000 miles. If you take care of it and don't abuse it, it should last.

I've got a fully built bottom end in my 99 type sh with a fully built head with stage 2 cams and I don't see 12 second time slips. I'd like to know how your friend does. He must have a shitload of money in his lude for him to be hitting 12.7! I call bs unless I see a slip!!!!!!!

I've got a fully built block. I sent it to golden eagle and they sleeved it and put JE forged pistons 11.5 to 1 pistons with Eagle H-Beam rods. The head was milled 30 thousanths bumping the compression up to about 11.8 to 1. The head has a stage 2 port and polish job with oem outers and portflow inners with stock retainers with crower stage 2 cams. I'm also running crower stainless steel valves which I recommend for only 270 bucks new, nice product. Golden eagle fully built the block including micropolish of the crank balanced and blueprinted. I've been able to pull a 13.4 all day long an street tires with 17 inch rims. I would like to see your friends slips to compare because I've invested over 5 grand into this motor and haven't seen 12's yet and I'm pretty good at launching at the strip! I've got a 99 SH so I'm happy with these times and vtec pulls FREAKIN hard. Sounds wicked as hell. I live in mansfield ohio and have yet to come across anybody that wants to go to the strip with me. Most peeps have civics around here. Some boosted some not. There's a few that would eat the lude off the road. Theres a dude that has a boosted ex and my car dynoed more hp than his did when it was stock lol. My opinion if your going to boost a lude do it right and have it built first. I've also got nitrous installed still but don't believe I'll be spraying a dry shot anymore. I'd like to go to a wet setup once the nitrous is tuned into it but only a 55 or 65 shot. I haven't made up my mind about going back to the juice. I went with 11.5 to 1 compression for the purpose of all motor but I've been told with proper tuning I can still spray since I've got a sleeved block and a lot stronger pistons. I'd believe I could hit low 12's high 11s on slicks if I spray!
