I live in Chicago and winters are very salty here. What exaclty does salt do to new rims? What are all the reasons for taking off rims in the winter? i got new rims and am debating wether to waight till springs or not?

I'd wait. The salt could easily chip away at the surface. Just imagine driving through a gravel pit. Maybe not AS harsh... but similar.

Rims and snow dont mix. My dad owns a touch free carwash. First off dont buy rims during winter, its a waste. You might get into an accident slide into a curb or something. Not worth the bling for the cold winter. Wait till late March early April to put on your rims. Im keeping my stock ones on untill April. Then my Racing Hart's go on. Just my opinion.

Ive had my stock steelies with winter tires on since end of octoberh:

anyway...besides the rims getting deteriorated, the low pro tires will suck major ass in the snow

heck yea. I was outside in the cold the night before the snow. I had my light out and the jack swapping out the rims. It was a tiring job and not ez b/c it was night, but well worth it. I would have kicked myself if I had waited any longer.
