Default workflow and archiving
what's your workflow involve..

lightroom or bridge?
photoshop?

what's your file structure and do you change metadata?

i get caught up on keeping originals, then edits, then i'm inundated with so much stuff, it drives me insane.

I use Aperture, I usually don't save the edits once I've uploaded them. The originals are stored on a backup external drive and then removed from my workstation.

bridge, photoshop

have a copy on my main machine and a external back up, all edits are stored with the original files in a sub folder.
