Like at the staples center and x-games craps...
they dont allow zoom photography unless u have a press pass.
they usually have a 3" rule.
basically all the the 18-200's with optical correction (canon/sigma/tamron) are all around 4"
i'm looking at the tamron 18-200 without correction since its 3.3"
the sigma 18-125 is 3.1" but cant be used with full frame sensors (and i'm planning on getting a 50D eventually).
soo....

get one of those crazy 500mm mirror lenses. small, cheap, probably pretty shitty optical quality though.
And when I went and saw Obama in St. Paul, they had signs up that said "no professional cameras", and I had no idea what qualified as a professional camera, and i didn't want to get turned away, so i figured i'd hide it. I had my D50, Sigma 24-60 2.8, Nikon 70-300, and a SB-600 flash. I figured that might look like a pro rig to someone, so I stashed as much as I could, and gave the rest to some friends so it wasn't just me carrying all the shit.
but yeah, put it in your pockets, or just hand it to someone else.

i bought the tamron 18-200 because the sigma 18-200 focus motor is too loud and slower. image quality might suffer, but what do i care.

Joe Louis arena in Detroit limits you to 80mm, so just get a good point and shoot with 12X or sneak in your 300mm. But the problem is the size of fast lenses.
