New Macro Lens

5 Attachment(s)
My fiancé, her sister, and mother went in on a graduation present for me. It is the Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro Lens, and I absolutely love it. Here are some shots taken with it. Feedback welcome as always.

No post-processing at all other than resizing.

your pictures look good, except.....
you should try to get more of the subject in focus at one time,
consider applying the rule of thirds
and increase the depth of field in your photos.
Anyway, congrats on the new lens, i wish i was lucky enough for someone to give me a lens.

Nice glass! i've never shot macro (never really needed to) but the Sigma I have does a decent job of it. did you use a flash?

On the first 3 I was screwing around the first night that I got the lens. I was trying to see what the focal diversity of the lens was, and needless to say I was amazed at how much control I had over what was and was not in focus.

And I worked my balls off for 2 1/2 years for that degree, so the lens wasn't a freebie :D

Thanks for the comments

Thanks Jay!

I like to do a lot of spider and detail shots on things, so I like having the macro as an option. I used a flash on the first 3, and the 4th I did not. A external flash will be my next upgrade I believe.

Also, I should say that I am sure you can tell from the pictures, but I am still learning to shoot with my DSLR, I definitely would like to get more time with it to learn more.
