Motor Trend says CTR Coming to US

though MT did print that honda has not released the information but they say they are sure from other channels that the 200hp ctr will make it to our shores as honda is very disappointed with sales of the civic si

Who would have thought that the Si selling so crappily would encourage Honda to bring over the CTR? Oh well, kudos to them if they bring it over...just be sure to price it less than the RSX-S and it should do battle with the Mazdaspeed Protege and Neon SRT-4.

I've gotta be pessimistic. We've been hearing that we're gonna be getting all these Type-R models for years from the auto mags. I said it would come, I said it had a better chance of coming than the ITR, and ya'll called me crazy. But I know I'm still right :fawk:

It might still be called the Civic Si. Who knows, Honda knows that people arent digging the version they gave us. Man, ive seen only one on the street.

The real question here is: Will it get the super-crappy RSX-S tranny, or the CTR tranny?

The weird thing is that they actually gave us a date of August 2003 as a MY2004. We'll see if they're right. That would definitely bump up the bar. I heard that the SE-R next year, when they redo the sentra, will get an improved version of the QR25 with 200HP. So maybe that class of car is getting faster too.

Honda's marketing folks are too conservative...
I feel they should bring over both the ITR and CTR knowing that these 2 models will sell, rather than worrying about killing the sale of the RSX-S and Civic SI. Ultimately, it's still profitable for Honda compared to buyers shopping elsewhere to satisfy their apetite for performance.

The RSX isn't the one with the sales problem, its the Civic Si. I'm starting to see too many RSX's on the road, and some are already starting to get riced out :(

The RSX tranny doesn't suck. The first 3000 had a little notchyness to them going into 2nd, and then the problem with it bogging down around 3500-5500 RPM, but thats been fixed, my g/f's '03 has had neither of the two problems mentioned above.

Final drive = too low

6th gear is there for a reason, and it isn't as a second highway gear. :p
