depending on conditions.....

they all breath rather well, so you usually are comfortable when not riding as well

I just wear jeans. But underneath, I wear an older version of these:

and I wear something similar to these for knee and shin protection:

Both of those combines, I'm pretty warm and comfy but when it's 'oh hell no' cold, I wear the older version of these:

I'm looking at getting some over-pants at some point. my thought on it is that if I am going to get a set of pants to wear over my regular pants i might as well get something that has good crash protection, like hard knee armor and hip pads. for i just throw on an over size pair of cargos when it is cold.
this is probably what I will get:

I tried on those TourMaster Caliber pants some time ago, and I found them very difficult to get into and out of with the insulated lining in. They seemed pretty nice otherwise, maybe I just put on my pants funny. :/
I have the Olympia Airglide 2 OverPants. They are quite comfy with or without the insulated liner. Warm with the liner in, and pretty breathable with it out. Build quality is excellent. Kneepads and hip pads included.
But yeah, long johns or underarmor under motorcycle jeans are probably enough for around-town riding. Then you don't have to worry about taking off/storing your pants when you get to your destination. I need to pick up some of those.

i did end up getting the caliber pants. I also got the cortech Mod denim pants.
I wasn't sure about the jeans at first but i really like them now. The have internal leather patches covering the knees and ass. the patches are covered in a mesh so they don't feel like leather on your skin. They also have CE armor in the knees which is nice but I wondering what the odds are of them actually staying on my kneecaps during an accident.
The Caliber over pants are pretty serious pants, I wore them once at around 32 without the liner and they were perfectly warm except maybe around the ankles. The zippers only go 3/4 the way up the sides so you still have to maneuver your boots through part of the leg or just put them on first. they seem very sturdy and well made.
As gay "tourmaster" sounds I have been really liking their gear so far. maybe I'll throw up some pics eventually.
