Noob with questions on CR-V, Long Post
Hey everyone. Quick intro, My name is Phil and I originally started out with the Japanese imports, first car was a 1987 Nissan Maxima and second car was a 1992 Integra. I'm currently studying in Beijing China so I have to sell my latest, 1994 BMW 325i. But I was thinkin about a new project once I got home to the states and I'm hoping to get some info beforehand to see how realistic this idea is. Thanks for any help.
I originally wanted to get a Subaru WRX sport wagon when I got back. But being realistic, I'm a college student and there's no way I can afford one. I liked the thought of all wheel drive and turbo in the same package and also the extra room in the wagon. So I've thought about this package and did some research on parts and cost. I started in the Japanese import scene but didn't get to learn much. I ended up not owning my imports too long before I ended up with the bimmer. So please excuse my ignorance as I've most of my time under the euro hood. I'm thinking CR-V. An older one, I guess the 1997. I'm pretty sure that I can find a manual one for 10g's or under. I try to keep up with the import scene and I noticed that a good number of people are doing the "frankenstein" engine conversion which is the bottom end of a CR-V with the top end of a Type-R. I thought that this would be a good starting point for power in the CR-V. Then eventually, cams from Skunk Works and a Turbo. I'm always into the oddities and I think that this would be one of them. I have yet to hear of a turbo "frank" CR-V in the states. I wanted to know everyones opinion and advise on this. Like I said, I spent my time under the euro hood and would like to get back under the Japanese hoods. Thanks in advance for any help.
