97 RL will not shift out of park
The shift lock on my RL will not release even using the manual override. I have taken off the face plate and do not see anything blocking the shifter from moving over or droping down. It seems the safety lock is just not releaseing. Any suggestions????

are you pressing on the brake? just had to ask the stupid question. if so check your brake lights....a common problem on hondas is the brake pedal switch failing...car doesnt know that the brake pedal is down, therefore the trans will not shift out of park. let me know if you're still stuck.
