Don't flame......what engine is in the LS?

Its not a Vtec is it?

I just wanted to know what engine it is, and how much HP/TQ it makes.

Thanks :D

b18b no vtec

not sure on hp/tq. numbers :dunno:

qtiger 07-16-2002 09:49 PM

b18b1

142 hp @ 6300 RPM

127 lb-ft @ 5200 RPM

1834cc
DOHC
9.2:1 c.r.

JGordon 07-16-2002 09:51 PM

94-96' 142 hp. 97' on switched to OBDII and had 140 hp.
121 ft.lbs I think. It was a 1.8 L non-vtec four banger. I like the easy questions. I can answer them.

Edit -- Crap. I'm about 4 seconds too late.

b18b - 1.8L DOHC 16-valve 4-cylendar non-VTEC
Redline at 6900 rpm, fuel cut off at 7200

94-95 were OBD1 and made 142 whp and 127 torque
96+ were OBD2 and made 140 whp and 126 torque

StyleTEG 07-17-2002 08:10 AM

6,800 is the redline, 7,200 is the fuel cutoff.

How easily can these engines be swapped into a 4th gen Civic?

Civicboy 07-17-2002 08:11 PM

the older tegs had the B18a didn't they

JGordon 07-17-2002 09:06 PM

All of the 94' and laters had the B18b, and I think the 93 (and maybe 92) LS's had the b18b. All the other 90-93 tegs had the b18a. (Except the GSR's) Don't quote me on this.

I know for a fact that 92 and above had b18bs. The 91 might have had it...........
