exhaust rattle at certain rpms

ever since i bought my car last sept i have had a wierd metallic rattle noise between 3-4000 rpm's...the catastrophe began....first thinking it was the catylitic converter, i gutted that...still there...next i bought a new header, being told it was the header internally falling apart, well the noise is still there...next i replaced the cat with a test pipe, still there, then i removed all heat shield on every part the car, still there...then just this week i installed my Apex WS cat back and i am still experiencing this noise, the entire exhaust system replaced and all heat shields removed, i have officially given up and learned to deal with it...so i wish better luck to u my friend

I just removed my heat shield a couple of days ago.
A knew it had to be the heat shield just because of the noise it made. Turns out the heat shield had rusted around the bolts holding it down in a few spots, hence, the rattling sound.
check that before you do anything else. and boy was that crap embarassing...

What are the steps you all used to pull the heat shield off?
I am experiencing the EXACT same thing as you all. At 1400 rpm its a tiny metal to metal noise. At around 2500-3500 rpms I hear the same thing, just not as loud cause I'm moving.
I tightened the bolts on my exhaust pipe coming from the cat and it didn't fix it. So next up after reading this thread is the heat shield.

i had those problems too..rattling...i think every integra owner gets rattling problems of some sort because i always see things posted on here about em. i had rattlings going on too. i took off the one heat shield above the catalytic converter. it stopped one of the rattlings but made a diff rattle more noticable. i ended up buying a dc header and tanabe RM catback exhaust anyways and now i hear no rattlings and instead have an exhaust leak.
But speaking of noises, i have to listen to my alternater whhhiiinnee in my speakers everytime i get in my car. And i'm not talking about regular little whining. It gets real bad, i was told it could be bad grounding. But oh well this isn't the audio section.

I have a similar problem. Around 3000rpms up to about 3700 rpms, I hear a metallic sound coming from the engine, mainly through 1-3 gears. I've heard that replacing the exhaust manifold should quell the problem right away. About the rattling early on in 1400rpms, I have no clue about that. My GSR only makes that metallic sound from 3000-3700 rpms.
