ECU upgrade?

For the most part im still a noob so everything i know about cars i learned on my own. So i dont know anything about ECU upgrades, fuel curves, ect. Im currently running a 2000 GSR with an Comptech icebox, DC headers, and cat-back exhaust. At what point do i pick up a new ECU or upgrade and what kind? Keep in mind im on a tight budget and i know VERY little about it.

Soon as you modify cams, intake manifold, or throttle body.

Going NA those are the first mods that really affect how your car breathes in a way your ECU can't compensate for.

ok so whats a good ECU. Since I won't be tuning it myself I was possibly looking at a Hondata s200 upgrade. Opinions?

ecu wait

Alot of guys out here have all times of ecu from the skunk2,mugen,apexi ..... From the results on the track the best option if your taking your time with a small budget is going with apexi vtec controller. then later when your done get a new ecu.

Hondata is nice, but unfortunately it gets very expensive with OBD2 vehicles like yours. An Apexi V-AFC would probably be the most effective for most mods.
