Default Help Launching??? Bad first time drags...

I finally went to the drags for the first time, and WOW- compleatly different than the street. I ran 3 times, and all three sucked.

Car: 96 GSR w/ AEM sri, Greddy 4-2-1, Magnaflow Cat-back, Toyo 205/50/15 FZ4s, DC Short Shifter, Comptech Springs.

Track Conditions: 85 F, 70% relative humidity, 1000ft elevation.

1st (VERY FIRST RUN) Wheel hop, let off, miss first, finally hook up. 60ft: 2.52, 1/4: 16.2@88.3

2nd run: Spin most of first, hook up around 6k. 60ft: 2.51, 1/4: 15.4@91.2

3rd run: Lights were still set for prostock (unknown to me), so instead of yellow, yellow, yellow, green, it just went yellow, green. Bad r/t of 1.17, bogged off the line. 60ft: 2.5, 1/4: 15.9@89.3

I know the car should be running at least mid to low 15s. I launched 3 different ways, once at 4K slip/dump, once at about 3k dump, and then I had the bog off the line.

Someone help me, because I know this sucks and I need to work on it. Any pointers??? Thanks.

I was running 14.85 with my GSR with I/H/E. I was basically dumping the clutch at 3500rpms, had a little wheel hop, then floored it.

Maybe you are doing something wrong

Ya know, the pavement on most drag strips has alot of grip, more than street. I've heard rumors of the houstan track having soo much grip, alot of racers who use slicks break thier axles. If you've practiced launching on streets and took that knowledge to the strip, then it's PROBABLY a whole differnt world because of the track. I'm not sure about your drag strip, but the one I go to reducts your reaction time of your E.T.

Just build up your tecnique on the strip, not the street
