i got my car with the rims on it already, and it has those kind of lug nuts that you need the key to get them off. it's a kind of allan key or hex. but i was wondering if anybody knows of anything that fits in there good to get the lugs off. something that i could buy at the hardware store or auto parts store. i got new rims coming and i need to get these off. any help is appreciated. thanks.

 

you didnt get the key from the previous owner? a shop can take them off.

 

This may not be the best approach and your better off listening to Will on this one, but I've heard some people who actually used a socket wrench to take it off. What they did was take a socket slightly smaller than the lug, hammered it on, so the socket forms around the lug, and loosened them off.

Not positive about the results though :dunno:

 

this may seem kinda ghetto, but see if a 3/8 extension will fit inside of it, i use a 3/8 extension for my lugs, works very well.

 

thats how they got off my broken wheel lock. depending on his lug, that can work.

 

A wheel shop will get those lugs off for you; you may still want to ask the previous owner for the key(s).

you should be able to by a key at a wheel shop, or possibly a allen head socket if the 3/8ths ex. doesn't work,
