Dunlop SP9000's installed.
 

I just installed 195/55/15 Dunlop SP9000 on Integra. Tire Rack's user comment suggest about 30K mile tread life.

Does anybody have any experiences with these tires? Tread life, noise after tread wears...

I must say these tire look sweet and rain traction is excellent.

I liked mine a lot, way better than the OEM Michelins. I got about 39k miles & they're pretty much worn out. As they wore out, the rain traction lasted a LOT longer than the original XGTV4 tires. Those started hydroplaning pretty bad before they were really worn out.

From the UTQG treadwear rating, I expected them to last longer, but 40k is all right. Maybe a little noisier than the Michelins, but close. Not somthing to worry about.

I was deciding between the sp9000's and the so-3 pole positions.
I went with the bridgestone's but my girlfriend has the dunlops on her protege and she likes them alot

From what TireRack says, the best All-Season Performance tires are the Bridgestone Potenzas and Kumho Ecstas, in that order.

Only problem with the SO-3's is that they (at last check) aren't available in the stock 195/55/15 size. While many folks will run a 205/50/15, the handling won't be as crisp as it could be with the 195/55. The SO-3's are really wide, even for a 205. A 7 inch wide rim would be the optimal size wheel to run them on. The same thing goes for the Azenis.

Most people probably wouldn't notice the diminished handling, but experienced AutoXers or those that are very performance oriented drivers will.

An alternative would be to run Yokohama's AVS ES 100. It's dry traction is only a notch or two below that of the SO-3 or Azenis, and it performs well in the wet. But most importantly, it is available in the 195/55/15 size. Also, it carries a 40,000 mile mileage warranty ... not too common for a V rated tire.

I thought about getting the Dunlops, but I've heard better things about the Yoko's.

JimBlake - How many miles did you get out of the stock Michelins? I have 33,000 on mine with about 2,000 more to go before I get a set of AVS ES 100's.

For what it's worth...

The Ecsta MX in 205/50/15 on my R grips more than my friend's Mazda MP3 w/ SP9000s or the Ecsta 712s.

I'm running the MXs on stock 6" wheel, no complaints. I "skimped" out on the S-03s, couldn't justify paying the extra $160.

I got almost 49k from the factory XGT-V4 tires, UTQG 220 for treadlife. So with the Dunlops carrying a 280 treadlife rating, I hoped they would last at least as long as the Michelins. Looks like I'm 'only' getting 40k out of them. Both in 195/55-15 size. I don't like doing burn-outs, but I've been known to explore the cornering limits...

This doesn't mean I'm unhappy with the SP9000 tires...

As far as I'm concerned, if I get 15-20K out of the MXs, I'll be happy.

They're just WAY too sticky. Like it's a bad thing :p

I wish S-03's were made in 195-55-15. O well.

I've had my S-03's for 6000 miles and i dont kno how many miles they were driven on from their previous owner (i got them with the rims), and the tread looks like its wearing well. i rotate the tires every oil change.

So do the SP Sport 9000's really loose a lot of their high performance qualities pretty early on, and get noisy, and follow the seams in the road ... like the reviews on TireRack say? Those negative reviews and a positive review about the AVS ES 100, from a guy who drives an ITR and has had a chance to ride on almost all of the above mentioned tires, are what turned me off to them and on to the Yoko.
