Check that. It's a pretty good source for the head-swap.

Are you talking about an LS/VTEC hybrid engine, or a true VTEC engine swap?

You couldn't be further from the truth. A properly setup ls/vtec requires an engine teardown and "new" internals. You can always just slap a vtec head and have vtec, but you'll still be slow. Hp/dollar a turbo setup is best with a ls.

Without upgraded internals you will not be able to rev high enough to take full advantage of the vtec. You could most likely drop a gsr motor in there for less then the ls/vtec (after all the parts and the tuning) because without tuning you will ruin the engine.

With the costs of building the ls motor so that it would actually be benificial with a vtec head, your going to be spending a lot of money.

Turbo setup will probably give you the most power, for the amount of money you are spending.

Dropping in a b18c1 or c5, would basically give you a gsr or type r engine. Once the quirks are worked out, this setup would be the most reliable of the bunch. But, you would ahve to weigh the costs of all the options against just getting a gsr to start with and eating the difference on insurance.
