Hatch support pistons

...don't seem to be able to support the hatch anymore. The hatch just falls down under its weight and there's an oily substance leaking from the top of the pistons. I suppose there's an O-ring or a gasket that's cracked that allows air or liquid to leak out.

Anyone experienced this problem? Is it fixable or do I have to get new support pistons?

I don't know of anyone who sells just the gaskets to rebuild the support pistons.

You can get new pistons here: http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...ILGATE+%283%29

Not too expensive, but you might want to check at an auto parts store for a generic alternative.

I think those cylinders are gas-charged. They're not actually 'springs', so you can't dismantle them. The seals eventually leak, & all the nitrogen leaks out.

I've seen them at AutoZoned for about $20 or $25 each, but I was looking for a '89 Saab, not an Integra. They had about 40 different ones for all kinds of Japanese cars, but for my Saab they were special order...

I have used ones that came out of a wrecked teg that I could sell you. They work perfectly! PM me if interested.
