99 GSR Axles Shot
So both of my front Axles boots are ripped and there's grease all over... I've been driving like this for at least over 6 months. I want to change my axles already so my question is, where can I purchase some good ones that aren't cheap autozone axles? I was looking on "acuraoemparts.com" and I see that they sell remanufactured ones " 06443-ST8-508RM DRIVESHAFT SET, R. (RMD) " for about $132/each. Then they have brand new ones " 44010-ST7-J61 DRIVESHAFT SET, R. " for about $295/each. The brand new ones are way too much for me. I'm not spending $600+ for axles. Will the remanufactured ones work just as good as the brand new ones? If not, where can I get reputable axles for my 99 GSR?
Thanks in advance guys.
Thanks in advance guys.
The $60 AutoZone axles have held up fine for me in my GSR, I track the car almost weekly, and dump the clutch all the time on them.
If you're looking for something performance wise, check out Drive Shaft Shop Level 0's I'll be getting these very soon.

I'm in the Whitter/Norwalk area... not too far from Pasadena... Do they make their own axles or what brand are they? As long as they don't buy them from Autozone it sounds good.
Spec R, I was looking at your build thread and you've inspired me to fix everything on my car... I have a list of things I want to fix on it. Since we live close by, maybe you can help me tackle some of the stuff
. You seem pretty knowledgeable on Integras and I'm still learning...
Stuff I have/want to fix:
1) Fix the two CEL lights I have P1381 & P1457
2) Change both of my CV Axles (boots ripped)
3) Change my clutch/flywheel (and maybe my master and slave cylinder since I'm already there)
4) Flush/refill my MTF
5) Change the motor mount(s) (motor moves too much when i'm at high rpms and I release gas pedal)
6) Get valve adjustment

2, Axles are pretty straight forward, I expect to do it while you change the clutch since you have to pull the axles to do so anyway.
3, Clutch and flywheel can get pretty intimidating, but just takes some time.
4, Flush/refill trans fluid, do it while you do the clutch, Honda MTF only, GM Sycromesh is also very good.
5, Motor mounts are pretty easy, your rear mount is probably gone, like mine was, in short, it's a real PITA.
6, Valve adjustents are easy, but on the VTEC motors you need special tools, it's like $70/80 from Honda for them, I suggest going to Honda, they charge about $80, but need the car for about 4 hours, or sometimes over night depending on how busy they are since the motor has to be stone cold.
