Walking timing belt
So I have been taking off the timing belt and putting it back on for the past couple weeks. I noticed the the belt wants to walk off the cam gears. It has eaten through most of my timing cover. I think it might have something to do with the belt tensioner, anyone have this problem? I have used a book from school for my procedure. I'm not just putting it on and tightening it down.
ive had the same mistake on my DC last year.
what i did, i removed the top cover so it does not rub on the camgears anymore.
about the loose belt, make sure that everything is lined up 1 @tdc crank lined up with the lower cover mark.
then with a 14mm socket, loosen (donot take out) just loosen the timing belt tensioner bolt and then just tighten it back up. your belt should be tensioned better than before.

When ever you do the timing belt it's best to replace the tensioner and spring. It might be faulty and last thing you need is for your belt to skip a few teeth. With proper tension, it shouldnt be moving at all.
Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to put on another tensioner that I have laying around and see if that fixes my problem. otherwise I'll buy a new belt, tensioner, and timing covers.
