Default Aftermarket exhaust for GS-R

I'm thinking about getting one installed. Just got my car so I don't know a whole lot about what people people are running, or GS-R's in general. I've heard about exhausts from Greddy and HKS and others. Is there any appreciable increase in hp, or just sound? What would be the recommended one? Also, are there other parts I should replace/swap first before replacing the stock exhaust?

You'll gain a few horsepower, nothing major. Mostly it's for the look and sound.

Now, do you want it to be a little louder than stock or do you want it to be really freakin loud?

by itself it wont give you much....but if you are planning major mods its nessesary to open up the pipes.

i had a greddy sp, i really liked it. no real complaints.

Get a comptech exhaust, its expensive, but you get what you paid for. Its not too loud and not too quiet and it was easy to install myself with some care ramps. (just my opinion)

It's a little overpriced IMO

If you want a really good sounding exuast Id go with the Greddy Evo, its what I got and I wouldnt trade it for any other exaust. Greddy is well known for its gains in HP and the sound is perfect, its not raspy its deep and clean. Even though its more expensive than a Universal exaust its well worth it.

Everyone's got an opinion on what exhaust is the best, and it tends to mirror whatever's on their car.
