Here's my dilemma - I need advice

So, I have a 96 LS with 79,000 miles. Runs perfect and everything - but it sort of a cop magnet with the illegal tint, and I'm kind of tired trying to play games and avoid being caught. (Cops have nothing better to do around here - why don't they catch me a terrorist!!!????)Now of course the simple solution is to take the tint off, but wait theres more...

I have found a 2000 ITR, in my own town with 19,000 miles on it. It has had two owners (I know one of them) and it has been modded to some extent. He's asking 21,500. That seems high to me...is it? Keep in mind that since its in my own town, I don't have to assume the risks of eBay or buying out of town from someone I don't even know. That is the key idea here....I don't want that extra hassle. Chicago is 3.5 hours away, but still, its hard to know what you're getting into. This is the one and only type R in my city. Oh, and its yellow. My last color of choice....don't know if yellow is my style. (I'm typically decked out in black)

Now for the financials: What I pay now is ridiculously low as far as a monthly payment. I'm almost ashamed to admit it...$160/mo. (Got a helluva deal on my LS, plus I had built up equity in a 92 Accord EX for which I got an outstanding price for) If I dealt down to 20100...my payments would be around 370....is this worth it?

Also, I'm not so sure that storing the car during the winter is an option....

Thanks for your responses, I really appreciate it.

I wouldn't be too worried about driving the R in the winter, just put some snow tires on a spare set of rims and drive on.

They tend to hold lots of value because of the limited production numbers and ultimate adoration bestowed upon them by your average riceboy.

exactly. thats why my friend was offered $34,000 for his Type R. I dont think that being ITR #01-0001 consitutes for a $10,000 appreciating, but to some it does.

Get the R.
The yellow might be an even bigger cop magnet though.

i have had 2 black cars, but the yellow is still nice. get it if you can afford it. drive it first - you will be convinced.

Thanks for all your help thus far....

About yellow: yes, a cop magnet...but at least its a LEGAL cop magnet. Right now I have mirror tint all around. The sherriff put his little tester thing up to it and it read 1% (although I find that hard to believe)

I was given a ticket today - so I'd kind of like to dump it off before I have to actually remove the tint. Its kind like when my TV remote broke. Yeah, I could've gotten a new universal remote, but a Sony Wega just sounded better.
