Default Maintenece required light

I just noticed that the maintenece light flashes when I turn the car off or on. It flashes 4 or 5 times and then goes off. Is it normal or is something wrong? I would think it would stay on if there was a problem. Any help would be appreciated. The car is stock with 28,500 miles.

If it was just when the car was turned on I wouldn't be concerned but flashing when the car gets turned off is definitely weird. That's generally not how the check engine light works.

that light is just to remind you when its time to do some maintence to it, ie: oil change and whatnot. you can turn it off by turning the key to the acc position and reaching under the steering wheel column and holding down a small sqaure button until the light turns off.

Yeah, but what maintenence is required? Just an oil change or something? I don't want to ignore it if something needs to be changed. What should I do?

Black, it's just set to a timer. Like an oil change.
But it doesnt really know.

It assumes you reset it after each oil change (which im sure you dont) and each adjustment of anything, etc.

It's just like an alarm clock, just turn it off and do your own ****.

It's a timer based entirely off your mileage. Once you go 6000 miles, it starts flashing as you start the car. Once you hit 7500 it stays on the whole time. It's a convenience feature built into Hondas and Acuras to let you know when it's time to change oil. Don't worry about it.
