Rear Clunking Noise, any ideas?
 

It's been happening *ever* since I put my Ground Controls on, there's a very small little clunk whenever say... I go up a driveway.

Or if I go over a speed bump, you can hear it kind of clunk, very softly -- but the next speed bump wont do it, but then if I back over it it'll do it -- and if I back over the next one it wont, but if I go forward over it it will. So it's sort of like it's something that's moving in and out of place.

Well, now that I put the lower tie bar on my car, it's doing it a lot more noticably (louder) than it ever has before and the bar ISNT hitting the ground or anything like that. It just sounds like it's forcing the sleeves or shock itself up and making it make a noise.

Any ideas?

Its not just yours. It does it in my teg and use to do it in my civic. Personally I thought it was my shocks.

Well, I went and retorque'd everything (the LCA bolts were too tight and so were the strut bolts) and it seems to have stopped.

I still get the small clunk I used to, but no more loud THUD.

Note: 36ftlbs for the strut bolts and 40 (I think) for the lca bolts.

Not sure if it's the same thing but my coilover sleeves clanked sometimes on hard bumps. I just thought it was normal :( Supposedly it's a common issue on GC's.

I believe it's the springs bouncing up and down on the seats. Higher end Tein coilovers, and probably others, have a second weaker spring to prevent this from happening.

I would definitely point to loose strut tower bolts first. If that made a difference, at least you know thats what it is.

newgsrdriver; I actually think it was overtightened LCA bolts.

The strut tower bolts were simply TOO tight.
It still makes the noise very slightly, but not loud as fawk from underneath (like the bar was making it).

The LCA bolts were at like 70-80FTlbs (hand tightened with a long wrench).
They need to be at 40. So I loosened them/retightened them up, and now its not doing it. Just the same ol' quiet noise.
