h: hondas automatic sucks.its really not even worth modding an automatic. a 5 speed already has a big advantage over the auto. i learned the hard way.

Auto trannies definitely hold back much of the power. A friend of mine just put in a Comptech SC in his 3.0 CL. 0-60 times decreased only by .6 seconds.
I know some people that have SC's on their BMW's A/T's.
It's well aware that Honda auto trannies are weak. To slow down the wear down due to F/I, my friend installed a tranny fluid cooler. Much of the damage is caused when the A/T fluid boils.

The biggest thing w/ honda auto trannies is premature wear w/ the 3rd gear clutch plate. That's how my old tranny blew out, and if you read online, all the new V6 Accords/TL/CL and prelude have the same thing, premature wear on the 3rd gear clutch plates. Something defective in Honda's design, I won't deny that they run great otherwise.
Listen if you are serious about performance and really want to build your car up, swap your AT out for an MT, and if you dont know how to drive one, learn. If you just want to drive around town pimping your car around all day, with the occasional stoplight to stoplight launch, stick with your AT.
Its an established fact that people who are serious about car performance drive stick, and thats for a reason. Not only will you not notice as much from your upgrades with an AT, but you will not have the same control over your car, and the more mods you do, the faster you will find yourself replacing worn out trannies..........

Don't even bother with a AT->MT swap; it's better to buy a MT car to begin with.
Not dogging on AT (how many drag cars are AT?); just that our honda trannies just don't cut it. Not to mention our powerband hates AT without some degree of buildup (on the part of the tranny).
