Default Can't reverse my GSR!

I've got a major problem with my GSR...not being able to go into reverse! One mechanic said it's my "reverse gear," one says it's possibly my Synchro set and/or bearings, and another mechanic said it's my transmission! Anybody experience this problem before? If so, any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Also, if it is my transmission, what are your opinions about getting a ITR tranny for my GSR? Any idea on costs?

Does it pop out of gear and seem like its only going half way in?? Try pushing the gear in reverse and holding it there while using a bit of force while reversing. It may work Ive seen it work on a few cars and it sucks holding it and all but at least the car can go in reverse.

ITR tranny is nice I have one on my car.

if you put it into 4th and then into reverse (with the clutch down the whole time) does it go in?

yea i notice my car won't go into reverse right away all the time unless i put it in 1st and move forward lil bit or roll back wards a lil bit. It seems like some pressure has been released or somethign. I don't know but it works for me. Goes right into gear. Sometimes shifting around through the gears with your foot on the clutch the whole time and then putting it into reverse works too. But I'm thinking your case me be a little bit different.

Since were talking about gears and such. Why is it that when I'm driving along I can easily slip my shifter out of every gear almost. I'm sure theres many different answers to that. But could someone give me a few to work with?????

This actually seems to be a common problem; I have the same issue, and 1st gear as well (can't pop it in sometimes).

this is the first standard car ive driven extensively, so I wouldn't know if it happens with others, but every few times I cant pop it into reverse, so I havta roll a bit before it goes in. like someone mentioned before

Try releasing the clutch and pressing it back in and trying to put it into gear that usuallly works for me.

I always put it in 2nd then reverse. If the tranny is stiff, particularly when it is cold, try replacing the trans fluid, it is easy as pie.

Did a tech tell you reverse had syncrose, because it doesn't.:nono: Since it doesn't have syncrose there is nothing to make the gears slide in smooth. So what could be happening is a tooth and a tooth of the gear are hitting instead of tooth to groove. Thus not letting it go into reverse and having to roll the car a little to make it go in smooth.
