1995 LS with Bouncing Idle
Hey guys I helped a friend out that has a 95 LS. We did a new fuel filter, cleaned the throttle body, and put a K & N cone filter on the stock intake hose piping (just for fun) Now with the cone we zip tied(we zip tied it real tight too) it to the stock intake hose (just for fun). We reset the ECU, and now the idle goes high from 1500 then goes back up to 2000, it goes back and forth for about 10 times then it backs down and its fine. I noticed it only does this when the car is cold. We drove to eat came back out after an hour and a half and it started up like normal. I have searched and know I should check for a vacuum leak any other info you can tell me. Im going to try to put the stock air box back on and reset the ECU again and see what happens.
Thank you
Thank you
umm i did this to my g2 for kicks and louder sounds and stuff liek that too and that happened too but its not a vacuum leak cause i replaced my vacuum hose and it still did it but i sold the car and bought a 98 rs and it doesnt give me any prob
yo yo yo.....uhh i really think that the idle is kind of searching......the idle should uh balance out soon....same thing happened to my car....haha what's up dude :fawk:
dont quote me on this....just a hypothesis

okay here's the skinny on the IAC...
it IS normal for the idle to bounce on a cold-start. however, this bouncing includes a 200 RPM difference. In his case, 500 RPMs, which would indicate something with his idling system is not right. Since the IAC valve tells the ECU pretty much the "conditions" so the ECU can warm the engine quickly and properly. If the IAC valve is starting to malfunction, the ECU will get different readings over and over again and begin to adjust the idle...rapidly. Go to honda and have them diagnose the situation and check to make sure it is the IAC valve. They cost about $100.

Hmmm I have the same problem. Only usually after a cold start would it bounce. about 500rpm at least. But it doesn't always happen though. I think i can cause it to bounce if I give a quick tap to the gas too before it's warmed up.
