Are you talking about your AC and Heater blower? Or the fans on the radiator itself? If your not loosing any coolant, I wouldn't worry about it unless the smell is driving you insane.

The only thing that brings coolant inside the car's interior is the heater core. You might have a small leak at one of the hoses, causing it to leak onto the header.

I think you may be on the right track. I noticed a tiny bit of coolant near the back of the engine when I was doing an oil change last week. It looked like it was coming from a hose but I couldn't tell exactly where. But like I said, I really notice the smell the most when I turn my radiator fans on.

There are lots of knockoffs on ebay though, make sure you email them and ask if its authentic. Modacar.com also sells them at a reasonable price. I got my 12" slim fan on HT for $45 shipped.

Some of the guys on HT have had good luck with "Mushimito" or whatever its called, for under 200$. You might look into them if your strapped for cash.
I remember paying about $400 four yrs ago for a new radiator on my 98 ls (mine was cracked/leaking from the top too). I woulda shopped around but I was making a 8hr road trip to Ohio the next day so had no choice.

The plastic cracking at the top of the radiator is a common problem. How come you didn't just get the fluidyne radiator now? No real point in swapping out your good oem one down the line for an aftermarket unit if it is still working.

When my original radiator cracked I swapped it out with fluidyne/samco hoses/and some new fans!
