Default Front End "Wheel Hop"

Ok., I am posting for a friend, Importbuyer. I am a pretty accomplished mechanic, but I am having a problem with his 92' Acura Integra LS. The problem seems to be an extreme vibration, maybe "wheel hop", when the car is accelerating and under load, but goes away in deceleration and cruise. It feels like it is on the passenger side(to me) and to him it feels like it is on the driver side, but it is very hard to tell. I have checked all front end components for tightness, bolts are tight, and bushings seem to be in good condition. When the vehicle is jacked up, the tire is firm on all 3 axis(when violently shaken by hand). We rotated the tires, changed the engine and tranny mounts, and rebalanced the tires and still the problem persists.

A little history and more info on the car:
* 17" rims, with lo-pro tires.
* The shocks were replaced with aftermarket Tokiko Illumina Shocks about 2 years ago. I am not pleased with the ride or the way they feel(the springs feel too soft) But he says its fine.
* CV joint was replaced (not by me)on driver side within the last year. Initially there was some severe pulling, but now it seems fine. Wondered if that could be the problem, but I am not sure.

(importbuyer)Anyways, I am looking for any ideas.. the mechanic i pay isnt sure and neither is my best friend who I trust with all my car problems implicitly.

It is a bad inboard CV joint. You will have to figure out which side, but I guarantee that is your problem. If you have access to a set of good known axles, swap them in and your problem will go away.

That is what I was going to say. Well not exactly, but I would put my money on this. Check it out before the car doesn't move anymore.
