test pipe?
rumor has it that where i live they might be getting rid of emissions. If this is true, should i run a test pipe in place of my cat, or still stick with a cat but of the high flow kind? Im not even sure test pipes come with an o2 sensor port but if they do, where can i find them? guess it wouldn't hurt to know where to buy high flow cats either. suggestions?
stick with a high flow cat. you get minimal gains with a test pipe unless you have a heavily built setup.

Fuck the idea of having breathable air, you need 5 to 7 more hp. :shake:
Pardon me for being blunt, but run a high-flow cat.
in fact, if all you've got is bolt-ons, there's little point in spending $400 on a high-flow until you've gone deeper into your build.

There are no emissions tests here but I would never even consider running without a catalytic converter.
Besides the obvious poisoning of the environment for a minimal amount of power, your car will sound and smell absolutely awful. Not only that, but regardless of having or not having emissions testing in your area, it is a federal crime to tamper with or remove the catalytic converter. If you are caught, you could potentially face several thousand dollars in fines.
I am just using a generic 2.5" Magnaflow high flow cat that I bought off kteller (I wouldn't recommend buying from them, though
) for ~$100 and had a muffler shop weld on some flanges to work with my downpipe/exhaust setup. You will also need to have O2 bungs welded in if you need them.

did some research. Bad idea. Just wondering cause some guy in a 4 door gsr was pullin my friends SH and all he had was i/h/test. 2 people in each car so i thought it was weird... but yeah, ill go with a high flow when i get the motor built up. the stock cat won't bottle-neck the flow if i go with a cat-back? would be I/H/stock cat/CB
bah even if the stock cat is a "bottleneck" wooooo what are u losing, like 2-3 hp if that
