My girls 93 Teg ran out of gas the other day to work. Don't ask! "I was running late to work and the light only came on one time!" -she said. So I go up there with a gas can..I put in 2 gallons..Car won't start..I later got it towed to my house and tried spraying starter fluid in the throttle body and still nothing. The car turns but won't completely start. Nothing is wrong with the battery. There is plenty of gas. I pulled the fuel line off at the fuel rail and the fuel is coming to that point. So i pulled a spark plug out and put it in the wire and attempted to start the car...NO SPARK............i'm thinking bad distributor......

I dont have to cash right now to get a new one so I tried one off of a 90-91 and it lined up right..but the plugs are different..the 90-91's are round but the 92-93's are square but all the wires look the same between the two models................Can I just splice the square connectors onto the 90-91 distributor....Will this work or should I just wait to buy the other distributor?

Any help is appreciated...

 

I think the wiring may be the same. I do know that the plugs were changed in '92 when Honda switched over to OBD-1 on all of their cars. Before you go about just randomly splicing stuff try to get a wiring diagram for both a '90-'91 and '92-'93 and make sure that everything matches up. I have a '92 Helms manual so if you can find the '90-'91 info I can hook ya up.

 

ive never really heard of anyone splicing a 90-91 distributor onto a 92-93, it's never has to go to that extreme. My suggestion is to just swap the ignitor since that's the most likely piece to cause a no start condition in your car, the other components in the distributor will not cause a no start condition.

 

My 91 Accord Ex (pretty much the same car as your integra/close enough) died, just conked out in the middle of an intersection. It was sputtering for a month so I thought it was some kind of fuel problem. So here's what I did:

Fuel filter checked = good

Spark plugs checked = no spark

Cap/Rotor = replaced, no start

Distributor/Rotor/Cap = replaced 3/99 when bearing in original dist. went bad with rebuilt part, garage did it and the ignitor was black not tan like the new ones should be after the recall, lasted 3 yrs. then this problem stated above happened

Ignitor = replaced, still no start

Coil = checked coil, no voltage, suspected problem secondary coil

Outcome = distributor replaced with Honda dist., new cap/rotor, new ignitor, new coil, VROOOOOOOOOM started.

Still have sputtering, changed PCV valve, minutely better, thinking Oxygen sensor because car runs good at low speeds for 2min. then starts sputtering, possible electrical problem to O2 sensor (suggestions???)

 

With my car I had a similar problem and it was the ignitor. Mine would go to start and everything would seem to work fine but the plugs weren't getting anything to them. Price wise the dealer has the ignitor for around $210, good luck finding somewhere else I couldn't. Autozone does sell the chip but no heat sink on it. I hope this helps good luck.
Ohh before buying the ignitor I would take a volt meter to it and double check
