Default Question about engine

I have been looking around the forum and most people say rebuild your engine after 160,000 miles or so. I am taking a Auto Engine performance class this semester and this is a perfect time to do anything to my engine that i might want/need to do. They have all the tools machines you can imangine, plus the instructor says the will help me do anyting on engine (Only) Header, Pistions etc. Do you guys think i should rebuild my engine at 121,000 miles or just wait, and do engine upgrades now? i would love to get to about 160-170HP on the engine. I know i would need to get Pistions, rods, and upgrade them, soon a header will be going on car. What should i do? Probelm is i don't have any tools at home to do any of this so now would be the time! How much money am i looking at to either rebuild engine or upgrade engine to new pistions and rods etc and what would i upgrade anything else?

Beat me to it. h:

You need to do a 5 speed swap, but I'm sure I'm not the first person to tell you that.
