Changing 5th Gear
So I have a 95 GSR and I do alot of driving on the freeway. My trips range from 500 to 800 miles. I was wonder if anyone had changed there 5th gear to lower the RPM's to high speed?
If so, what was the overall final dive?

Just be religous about changing the oil every 3K to 3.5K.
And use a quality filter (i.e., not FRAM).

Wix <-- I've been using them exclusively before I even bought my DC4.

Fram uses cardboard end caps, piss-poor filtration media and plastic bypass valves. All the brands I've listed use steel caps, more filtration media of better quality and steel bypass valves.
Check the FAQ... a good ways down, there's a link to a filter discussion / test on NTPOG. It's on the old link page way down near the bottom of the thread.

If it's the constant drone of 4K that's killing you, I'd look into sound deadening mat for the firewall and floorboards. As mentioned earlier, the cost of retrofitting the LS 5th gear would never be repaid in fuel economy.

you can buy a Wix label oil filter or you can go down to carquest and ask them for a red label Car quest oil filter....its the same thing
Make sure you get the red label though, the blue label is different....wait dammit I mighta got the color backwards. Just go into Carquest and tell em you want the better Carquest oil filter.
